Health and wellbeing

I work alongside and supported a broad range of main stream and complimentary health practitioners including; music therapists, a herbalist, health advisors, dementia family support specialists, tai-chi teachers, reiki practitioners, yoga instructors, doctors, nurses and occupational health specialists.

In a community development role, I supported High Hopes garden group to independence. We introduced school children to their garden space so teachers could introduce them to grow and preserve food to eat knowledge.

As a project coordinator and facilitator, social rehab and wellbeing practitioner and community networker, I worked for Headway SELNWK to establish Headway for Medway. We gained funding from a manager for an organisation providing accommodation for people who survived a brain injury to employ me for another year after the contract in the area of Music Therapy for the group.

Independently and alongside a Music Therapist I provided therapeutic music sessions for a client for a year as part of a person centred programme of rehabilitation.

I have over ten years experience coordinating and facilitating Medway men in sheds. This scheme provides 7 sessions a week in activities to suit different cohorts. The sessions are focussed on 5 steps to wellbeing. Activities include community music and tuition, woodwork, engineering, cooking, sport, electronics, computer coding, mathematics and literacy, trips, events, gardening and green space development. The scheme reduces isolation, provides mental and physical stimulation, pathways to better opportunities and health, to build friendships, deliver positive outcomes to the wider community and reduce suicide.

I have worked over the years with various community jam projects at small and large family festivals including One-Love and Boomtown. The objective is to share the power of music and use it as a tool for stimulation, learning, communication and reducing depression.
